ACTIVITES AND TOURS IN PECCIOLI

The following activities are arranged directly in Peccioli, in our apartments directly or in town within walking distance from the units. Tours and activities can be combined into a full-day program.


TUSCAN COOKING CLASSES
Private cooking lessons focusing on local recipes using local and seasonal ingredients, arranged directly in the kitchen of your apartment in Peccioli. Preparation of a full meal with appetizers, primo course, secondo course and dessert and dinner served with local wines. Duration: 4 hours.

       

TUSCAN PASTRY AND PIZZA CLASS AT THE PASTRY SHOP
Private lessons focusing on how to bake typical Tuscan pastries at Pasticceria Ferretti Peccioli. Preparation of various cookies and cakes and a delicious pizza served for lunch or dinner after the course, along with excellent local wines. Duration 3.5 hours.

       


PRIVATE PAINTING CLASS
Private lessons with a local artist directly in your apartment in Peccioli or in little squares or streets of the village according to your inspiration. Each lesson takes approximately three hours allowing you to create your own unique and inimitable souvenir of Peccioli and Tuscany! Duration 3.5 hours.

     


ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE FOR FOREIGNERS
The best way for visitors to Italy to experience the Country is by learning our beautiful language. Our private lessons are held in  your apartment and combined with walks through the historic center of Peccioli, from beginner to advanced level. Duration from 1.5 to 3 hours per lesson.


TASTING OF LOCAL PRODUCTS
At a small shop selling local specialties in Peccioli  you can taste all the best products of the Valdera area surrounding the village. Samples of mixed cold cuts, cheeses, sauces and pates, extra virgin olive oil and wine from the best Tuscan farms. Duration 1 hour.


GUIDED TOUR OF PECCIOLI AND THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM 
A walk in the village with stops at the panoramic places and at all places of historical and cultural interest. The focus of the tour is to show the daily life, the uses and the customs of the local community, while enjoying the simple and rural beauty of the village. The tour includes a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Peccioli, a charming exhibition in a historical cellar of the town with Etruscan findings from the Temple of Ortaglia, just outside Peccioli. Duration 2 hours.

The following activities and tours are held around Peccioli, in the territory of Valdera, and imply a transfer on foot, by bike or by car (10 to 30 minutes). Tours and activities can be combined into a full-day program.

COOKING CLASSES ON A LOCAL FARM
Private cooking classes in a beautiful farmhouse close to Peccioli focusing on the preparation of a complete meal, including appetizer, primo and secondo course and dessert. The cooking class is followed by a dinner or a lunch with local wines. Duration: 5 hours.


PIZZA MAKING CLASSES AT THE PIZZAIOLO'S
An original and very amusing experience at a local pizza maker's just 20 minutes from Peccioli. In his veranda with wood burning oven you learn to prepare delicious pizzas and a local specialty called "cecina". The course also includes the preparation of a cake. The class is followed by a dinner, or lunch, at the end with all you prepared. Duration: 4 hours.

     


VISIT TO A WINERY WITH WINE TASTING
Guided tour of a spectacular winery in the area of ​​Terricciola, the most important wine terroir around Peccioli. The tour includes a walk through the vineyards and a tour of the winery's production facilities, including a beautiful barrique room. The tour ends with a tasting session of 4 wines, from excellent Chianti to surprising IGTs. Duration: 2 hours.

      


VISIT TO AN OIL MILL AND TASTING OF EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL & SALAMIS
Guided tour to an original oil mill belonging to a farm where Cinta Senese pigs are bred. The tour includes a walk through the mill with an explanation of the methods of extraction and a tasting of extra virgin olive oils and oil-based products as well as delicious Cinta Senese salamis, produced on the farm. Duration 1.5 hours.


VISIT TO AN ORGANIC CHEESE FARM WITH LUNCH
Guided tour to a fascinating farm in the spectacular setting of the hills around Volterra, about 35 minutes from Peccioli. The tour includes a walk into the dairy and into a sheep shed with an advanced milking facility. The experience ends with a delicious lunch to taste excellent pecorino, ricotta, other cheeses and produce from the farm. Duration 3 hours.

      


WALK IN THE WOODS IN SEARCH OF TRUFFLES AND TRUFFLE-BASED LUNCH
A unique opportunity in the woods of Palaia, just 10 minutes from Peccioli. The guided tour starts at a workshop for processing truffle-based products and continues with a beautiful walk in the woods searching for real truffles. The walk is followed by a delicious truffle-based lunch based on truffle products and fresh truffles. Duration: 4 hours.

       


GUIDED WALK ALONG A GRAVEL PATHWAY WITH VISIT OF A RURAL CHURCH AND AN ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE
Peccioli is located very close to an archaeological site where a team of archaeologists found the remains of an ancient Etruscan temple. Walking from Peccioli, it is possible to visit the site and then reach a nearby rural church with unique charm in a very scenic location. Duration: 2 hours.


MOUNTAIN-BIKE NATURE TRAILS AROUND PECCIOLI WITH GUIDE OR ROADBOOK
The Municipality of Peccioli has got 6 nature trails stretching along hills and valleys in its vast territory. All of them are fully mappef.  It is possible to explore these paths riding Mountain Bikes  with or without a guide. Duration: from 2 to 4 hours.


VESPA TOURS ALONG THE ROADS OF VALDERA, WITH GUIDE OR ROADBOOK
The beautiful hills around Peccioli are the ideal place for excursions aboard Vespa scooters. Beautiful scenic roads with little traffic allow you to discover unnumbered hamlets in a unique atmosphere. It is possible to arrange vespa tours with or without a guide. Duration from 2 to 6 hours.


GUIDED TOURS OF THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE OF LARI WITH VISIT TO A PASTA FACTORY AND A MEDIEVAL CASTLE
A little gem just 20 minutes from Peccioli. The medieval town of Lari is famous for the original pasta factory Martelli, a family of producers who export their spaghetti all over the world. In Lari we also visit the beautiful castle of the Vicars, a perfectly preserved fortress with a unique view over Pisa. Duration: 2 hours.

      


GUIDED TOURS TO CHARTERHOUSE OF CALCI AND THE MEDIEVAL VILLAGE OF VICOPISANO
The treasures of the region of Pisa never end. Our guided tour takes you to discover the beautiful monastery of Calci, a magnificent example of Baroque charterhouse in the middle of the countryside, along with the fortified village of Vicopisano, where the typical medieval architecture of tower-houses can still be seen in every corner. Duration: 2 hours.


GUIDED TOURS OF THE MUSEUM OF PIAGGIO PONTEDERA
Just 15 minutes from Peccioli is the headquarters of the Piaggio industries, world famous for being the producers of the legendary Vespa. The guided tour of the Piaggio museum allows you to explore the history of one of the most successful industries of  Italy and see beautiful original Vespa models from 1946 to the present days. Duration: 2 hours.

        


OLIVE EXPERIENCE DURING THE OLIVE HARVESTING (SEASONAL ACTIVITY)
A wonderful opportunity for visitors to Peccioli in the second half of October, in November or December. You can participate to the olive harvest at a nearby farm and visit a mill during the olive crushing. Obviously everything is followed by an unforgettable tasting of "olio novo", the new olive oil.

EXPERIENCE IN THE VINEYARD DURING THE GRAPE HARVEST (SEASONAL ACTIVITY)
A dream for many visitors to Tuscany! If you visit Peccioli in the last week of August or in September you can participate to a grape harvest at a local farm. You'll see how the harvest is organized and you can access the cellar during fermentation phase. The experience is followed by a lunch on the farm with wine tasting. Duration: 4 hours.
